flexe: From Local to Extreme Environments

How does the FLEXE Forum work?

Each week, FLEXE students and scientists visit the forum to interact and explore a different set of deep-sea data. The weekly interactions consist of three steps:

Step1: Scientists post a deep-sea dataset and pose questions designed to help students explore the data.

Step2: Students analyze the deep-sea data and write responses to the scientists through the forum. Responses must be posted by due date listed below.

Step3: Scientists post a summary statement about the data and feedback on what students wrote.

Four sets of data and questions will be examined during this pilot period.

FLEXE Forum Schedule:

Dataset 1: Water Temperature vs. Depth Profile

Dataset 2: Vent Fluid Temperature over Time

Dataset 3: Hydrothermal Vent Plume Temperature

Dataset 4: Animal Distribution with Temperature

FLEXE Wrap-Up:

FLEXE Forum Opens
October 8th!

The Atlantis

Visit the FLEXE Forum in October and meet four deep-sea scientists. These researchers will share data they've collected from the hydrothermal vent environment along the East Pacific Rise and guide you in understanding these data.
